Podcast Episode Summary
Don't trust in Antivirus 7! Although the name looks legible, it's just one more trick. Nowadays, more often hackers use legible names of the applications in order to mislead computer users. This time they have chosen to imitate the latest Windows version, Microsoft Windows 7. Antivirus 7, also known as Antivirus7, comes from the same family as Antivir rogue. Both applications are based on some legible software which is respected by computer users. These cyber criminals play with the opportunity to mislead PC users when they are looking for legible applications such as Windows 7, or in the case of Antivir, Avira AntiVir. Keep in mind that you must always know the exact name of the product (rather than a loose one) you are looking for.
Antivirus 7 is usually installed through some malicious sites you are visiting or when you are redirected from one fake website to another. Due to the fact that Antivirus 7 is based on Trojans, it is installed without your permission. Contrary to legible software, you must accept the license agreement and the installation of the software. However, these viruses just crawl into your computer as you don't expect that.
After the fake application is installed, it begins what it can do best - scanning your computer as you just boot Windows up. Of course, be sure that all the scans are simulated. None of the results are realistic. In addition, the popping warnings are made to scare you and make you believe you are in a great need of buying Antivirus 7.
All in all, just don't get into trouble with Antivirus 7. It might promise you gold and happiness but it will just remain dreams. Keep in mind that Antivirus 7 is neither able to detect, nor to remove any viruses from your personal computer.
