Podcast Episode Summary
Raised in Wichita and Kansas City, Greg began playing piano at age 5 and spent most of his formative years inside playing Beatles songs. After graduation, Greg moved to New York City. Sep. 11, 2001 was the catalyst for taking his keyboard to the subway and starting a career in music. After a short while playing and singing in the subway, Greg started to get work in many New York City piano bars including the Duplex, Rose's Turn and Brandy's. His repertoire as a piano bar player is unique in that it's focused on current pop-rock music, including alternative and harder rock. Greg started recording his own album in the fall of 2002, and —with the help of nearly 50 other musicians -- he finished the album two years later, around Christmas in 2004. All the tracks on the album, Rings in Spaces, were written and produced by Greg. He used a wide variety of excellent musicians including Meg Okura, Scott Selig, Dave Eggar, Vic Thrill, Eugene Lavenue and also drummer/programmer Gregg Williams. Steve Rossiter and Robbie Adams mixed the album.
