Podcast Episode Summary
A tiny country in Asia, about a third of the size of Victoria, and sandwiched between China and India, has a very different approach to economic development.
Bhutan sees gross domestic product alone, as a flawed indicator, and is basing its growth on the gross national happiness index, which looks beyond economic data.
Strongly influenced by Buddhism, the Bhutanese believe it could be an answer to the financial turmoil emanating from the US and currently sweeping the globe.
Queensland correspondent Stefan Armbruster spoke with Bhutan's secretary of the Gross National Happiness Commission, Karma Tshiteem.
