Podcast Episode Summary
Tough choices at the moment, there are a lot of good tracks about and sometimes it seems you can have too much of a good thing. Especially if you have to find a bunch of tracks that will play nicely together. After several attempts a radical decision was made. Stick to one side of the Atlantic for August with the rest going in to make September. So this month is the turn of the US, that doesn't mean all of the producers and artists are American, it's more about the overall sound. Mix opens where June Vol2 left off with Moodymanns "On The Run", over "Walk A Mile" this time. Nice warm start to things. Good to see Eric Kupper still releasing tunes and "Bloom" shows he hasn't lost his touch. The next track has to have one of the most original names in house - "I Woke Up With Your Hair On My Hips", hmmmm, it's a good track any way. "Fa'Ka" is more on an African vybe but works well with it's American brethren. The next track is one of my favourites at the moment "Left 4 Dead" is so phat and chunky and kicks off the chunky part of the mix. That chunkiness is continued with "Sound Of The Rain". We stay with the chunky Chicago style, but add a disco twist with the superb "Way Back When". Chicago takes over with Terry hunter delivering BIG on "Ugly Part Of Me". Now your vocal chords are warmed up we will serve up another cracker with "Hope You Feel Better". As the mix continues it's time to go gospel. The irony being the first track is actually a track by Fanatix from the UK. One of my all time favourite gospel tracks makes an appearance and puts Baltimore on the map. A blast from the past "A Feelin" is just HUGE and I can't get enough of the hook towards the end of the track. The mix takes on a West coast feel with Drum & Wild. Not sure what you would call the next track "I Get Over", it's like a modern space disco biscuit. We get a second dose of that West coast sound with "Big Trunk" before finishing with another disco biscuit, of the old fashioned variety this time. Next month will see the response from the East side of the Atlantic, I can tell you it is already shaping up very nicely. In the meantime enjoy that stateside sound.
