Podcast Episode Summary
In case there is any confusion out there, you didn't miss a mix, April didn't happen. But let's not dwell on the past, May is here and packed full of goodies. The mix transitions through a few different styles starting on the deep and mellow side. "Take My Hand", "Don't You Mind" and "Duplicity Remixes" have a clean simple sound, a perfect foundation for the tracks to come. "Just Lay Back" introduces the London sound with a chugging beat and great synths. We were introduced to Mark de Clive-Lowe back on the March mix. As promised here is another track from the hugely talented producer - "Everything I Need". The sound then heads back in time, even though the track is new. Julius Papp & Mr V bring back the memories with "Chicago Tribute". Sean McCabe is no stranger to C2E mixes these days, "Just A Little Bit" ft Stephanie Cooke has his trademark sound we have all come to love. Restless Soul is a busy place at the moment with a ton of releases coming out. we have two of them back to back. First is Phil Asher with "Can't Go Back", a track I've been listening to all year. You would have to have been living on the moon not to recognise the next track. It's a remake of Jill Scott's infamous "He Loves Me". The bassline is warm enough to melt lead. DJ Spen pops up next to toughen things up a little with "Believe". We have a disco mash up from Booker T which sounds great and keeps the tempo going. The gloves come off for the next few tracks as we get tougher and deeper. Rocco's mix of "Is It Possible" is thickened up considerably by the deep rolling bass of "First Jackin". We have more layers with Maurice Joshua's "Deep" Down" providing the hi-hats and vocals over "Saturday". The last couple of Deetron tracks I've bought have the exact same format, slow build up before losing the plot mid way through. The first half of the tracks are on another level though, so we have the first half of "Falling". The next track "Don't Panic" by Andre Lodemann is the exact opposite, the start is very slow and repetitive, one for the serious deep heads. The second half of the track is pure genius, I have it on repeat when I get home from work and me the boys jump around the lounge like loons. Its one of those tracks you wish went on for longer. We end with a real gem, a track you'll be hearing for years to come as a classic soulful house track. It's the result of putting together Josh Milan & Louie Vega, and you pretty much know that can only end one way. "Your Body" is a great song for the summer to come in the Northern Hemishpere, you lucky kids. It's that good I reckon you may be hearing it again on a future C2E mix so it gets a full run out. In the meantime turn it up and enjoy.
