Podcast Episode Summary
This months mix starts off deep and slow, then slaps on some platforms for some serious chunky disco funk. We start off with one of two Lovebirds tracks, but the opener is a mix of "Keep Coming" by Axel Boman. We dip a toe in Africa with "Mumi Wango" before heading back to that deep European sound with "So Good". "Drums Of The Jungle" gives us a taste of Frank Roger. The second Lovebirds track "Brotha" is next. There is a definite formula to Lovebirds latest releases, they all have identical patterns, but the sounds he manages to produce make each one top shelf. It's time for the disco ball and we start with the excellent "Praise GOD" with a little Jill Scott sprinkled over the top. Demarkus Lewis has been getting funky with his latest release the "Downtown Hustle EP" and "Show You How To Werk It Out" is the upbeat track from the release. We take a little break from Disco for a trip to the UK. Big thanks to Michael Zac for putting me onto "Smile". Similarly big thanks to Davor Obradovich for giving me the heads up on "U Got To Get" by Danny J Lewis. The mix then ups a gear for a track I can't stop playing at the moment - "Imma Let You Know". It is so simple but effective. "I'll Tell You Babe" is the last of the UK garage (in the old sense of the term) sounding tunes. We've got a good head of steam up now and we're gonna need it as things are about to go off. "Dance Warrior" is gonna have you jumpin, spinnin and bouncin round your house, it's great fun and house needs more of it. An old track for the old heads drops right in next "Breakdown" by Scotti Deep takes the intensity to another level. "Grasshopper" is as the name suggests a deep and bouncy track which blends well into "Armstrong Experience". I reckon we all need to take a rest after that so we ease out of the mix with "Don't Rush" another release on Phil Ashers' ever consistent Restless Soul label.
