Podcast Episode Summary
In this podcast Mikki Afflick showcases four of her tracks, Mating Call (annecymix mix), Freeing my Soul/Me Time, It's Over (NYC House Mix), and Soul Sun Dance. I consider myself and producer first,and a DJ second. But I loved making mix "tapes" from the time I was twelve years old, with my cassette player, I've been hooked. then mixed CD's now podcasts. I creativey that I have in the selections for tracks, the re-editing or remixing, I find most enjoyable. I have been re-edit since I was twelve years old. I never really looked at it that way but, I guess my tape deck is now my DAW. From the first pair of technics belt drive. Now to the Gold Technics1200's Limited Edition. I have come full circle.
I named this podcast Slave to The Rhythm in honor of Grace Jones. A bond and strong Black women who pushed the buttoms and was not afraid to take chances on her music, dress and with her life. She was too bond for some, but still one of the best dance club queens ever. So there's a little Grace in me, Bond, Strong, and NEVER afraid to take chances with my music, dress, or life.
This is for all the ladies of House Music. Those who produce, spin, dance,sing, and just love it. Now for all the House lovers, Enjoy.
