Cholesterol is junk in your arteries blocking the flow of blood. With too much cholesterol, you end up having a stroke or heart attack. These are not nice things. Four ways to reduce cholesterol are:

  1. diet
  2. exercise
  3. lose weight
  4. drugs

Lots of cholesterol comes from the food we eat: meat, cheese, butter and french fries. The fries might have transfats which is hydrogen blown into cooking oil. If we eat correctly - ie eliminate foods with lots of cholesterol - we might reduce the amount of cholesterol in our blood. If we exercise, we can accomplish the same thing. If we exercise and eat correctly, we will lose weight which also contributes to a lowering of cholesterol.

This is not a fad or short-term event. This is a  lifestyle change.

But before you try any of these things, consult a medical professional; get a physical check up and take his or her advice seriously.
