Podcast Episode Summary
Vision is an indicator of life. As Prov. 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” God has kept Petra Church alive with the vision that we be: 1) A Holy-Spirit-filled and truth-filled apostolic church. 2) A missions-focused church. 3) A church that understands the times. 4) A church that preaches the gospel. 5) A church that trains soldiers of Jesus Christ. This is not only Petra’s vision but of the church of Jesus Christ. We must continue to be faithful to the vision God has given us as his people. Yet, without God’s power, we cannot fulfill His vision. We need to be filled with the Holy Spirit. How can we be filled with the Holy Spirit? 1) Repent. Judgment is coming and it will be a dreadful day for those who reject Christ, but God will forgive those who repent and he will pour out His Spirit on them. Repentance is not a negative thing, but the most positive thing we can do to connect to God—turning away from our sinful selves and turning to the holy and righteous God. Our repentance must not only be personal and also kingdom-focused. Let’s restore our relationship with God and renew our focus on the kingdom. 2) Return to the fundamentals. Hold on to the Word of God, and let that—rather than the pattern of the world—shape our minds. Prayer and meditation on the Word go together. 3) Reunite. We must each be united in our local body of believers in Christ. 4) Reach out. Share with the people around us and not be content with our own solo lives. We must be a channel of blessing for others.
