Pastor Jin Ho begins a three-week series on faith.
This first message discusses types of faith and emphasizes the gift of faith. 1) Natural faith is simple belief in facts, like the laws of gravity or truth that there is a God. This acceptance of everyday facts and truths do not change lives. 2) Saving faith, however, does change our hearts and our lives. This is what we experience when we come to put our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and regard Him as Lord and Savior. 3) The fruit of faith is the result of the Spirit of God. The more we believe the more fruit we will bear. 4) The gift of faith is imparted by the Spirit of God and gives us special trust in Him to protect us in times of danger or to provide in times of need. The account of Daniel in the lion’s den is an example of the gift of faith. It is an example of God Himself doing the work. The gift of faith is different from God giving us the power to do something, such as what he did with Samson; God miraculously empowered him to overcome the Philistines, enemies of Israel, with supernatural displays of strength. The gift of faith is greater than the gift of miracles because God does everything through His unlimited power. Yet, when He uses us to make miracles happen, as great as the miracles are, the power is limited in the human beings through whom He works. Also, with the gift of faith, there is no work on our part—only waiting and worshipping.
