Podcast Episode Summary
Pastor Jin Ho continues his sermon series on spiritual warfare entitled “Victors in Christ.”
The piece of the “armor of God” (Ephesians 6:10-17) that we focus on this Sunday is the “helmet of salvation” (v. 17). When we ‘put on the helmet,’ we are taking on God's wisdom, not our own. The wisdom of God is personified in Christ. Without Christ, we are foolish. We don’t merely believe in Christ in our minds, but power is demonstrated through our faith. Wisdom comes from reading the Word, and this is not just an act of getting information but building relationship. As we read, God grants his wisdom to us and we grow in our relationship with Him. The enemy wants our mind clouded and to hide the truth of God available to us. Paul was prepared to operate with the mind of Christ—a sound, biblical mind—in everything he did and said, even in the face of persecution. Peter also displayed the helmet of salvation, as he was a commoner who was able to refute Pharisees and teachers of the law. In order to take up the helmet, we must die to ourselves. Submit to the mind of Christ, rather than what we feel or how we functioned before we knew Christ. We have to protect our minds from the worries and fears that the enemy injects and fight lies with the truth.
