Just my luck .
Dear Robert,

I'm sorry you haven't heard from me in a while. Things here have been... in a word, hectic. My parents are in the middle of a messy divorce, and they haven't spoken to each other rationally in weeks. There's constant yelling, screaming, and everything else imaginable. I can hardly stand it.

Enough about me. Now, to the point of this letter. I am not sure if you know already, but I'm assuming not, since we haven't written each other in nearly a month...but, Grayson was in a boating accident. The doctors tried everything they could to help him, but in the end, nothing would fix what had already been done. He is now in heaven, or at least that's what I'm praying, and he is painfully missed. He was one of the only people I could talk to, besides you; he was my brother. I don't know how I'll manage without him, but I'm trying. This was the first day in nearly two weeks I've been able to stop crying enough to write this to you.

Keep me in your prayers. I'm sorry to unload all of this onto you, but... I felt it was my responsibility. Please don't feel obligated to reply immediately.Sincerely,
Hadley

Hadley McKenna. Twenty-one years of age. Currently taking time off of college to visit the love of her life. The catch is... she's never actually met him.

Robert Fields. Twenty-three years of age. Graduated student from Oxford University. Successful journalist for the London Times. Unaware of the surprise visit.

Hadley and Robert have been writing for nearly three years; Hadley's older brother, Grayson, was a student at Oxford, and became good friends with Robert. Him and his younger sister constantly phoned, wrote, and emailed each other, and eventually they got around to talking about Robert. Hadley was seventeen at the time, and currently looking to have a pen-pal for some school project. Grayson presented the idea to his friend, and he agreed; no harm in writing a seventeen year old girl from the states, right? Odds are they'd never meet anyway and it would end within the next year. It didn't. The two grew closer together, through the power of letters; pretty soon, they knew everything about each other, every quirk, every talent, every fault.

Then, a few days after having celebrated Grayson's return back to the states, the accident happened. He was in an accident while on a lake trip with friends. It devastated the family. Hadley, especially... she'd lost one of the only people who'd ever been there for her, throughout bad and good times. But, out of his death, inspiration came for her to finally pursue the dream she'd been putting off for so long: to get on a plane to London, and find Robert.

But, what will happen when she surprises him the night of her arrival, and she finds out that she's not the only girl in the picture?
