Podcast Episode Summary
 Library Director Joanne Kares announced her retirement last Wednesday. After 35 years with the County she leaves the library considerably broadened for her leadership. Under her guidance we've begun concerts, film screenings and Open Mic Nights, began one of the first electronic reference services in the country, now offer the Snack Spot, work more closely with community groups and organizations (Museum Pass program), have showcased local authors, artists, musicians and veterans, offer a vastly expanded program of classes, including online instruction ...among other changes .
Morris County Library has received these awards, under Ms Kares: 1999, Exemplary Service award, Virtual Reference Desk Conference, 1999 (sponsors, Syracuse University and Natl Library of Education, US Dept of Education). 2003 and 2004, Librarian of the Year, New York Times Award(s) 2006, NJ Library Assn, Public Relations Award, Service brochure 2008, Institute of Museum and Library Services, Connecting to Collections bookshelf 2009, NJ Library Assn, Public Relations Award/New Technology,audiotour, and Library Champion Award, for the Fontinis-Tsigis family.
