Podcast Episode Summary
How do you know whether a product or method is effective, ineffective, or even dangerous for your health?
In this episode, Marco and Ben talk with me, producer Duff McDuffee, about medical quackery.
Many resources and organizations that are tracking medical "quackery" also claim that legitimate forms of alternative and complimentary medicine are ineffective. How can intelligent consumers sort through the information for themselves?
One way is to avoid things that are brand new until they have been tested and proven. Living with vitality doesn't require being on the cutting-edge of diet and health fads.
Also, pay attention to when you are trying a new diet or product to fill a void for something else in your life. No matter how pure your raw food diet or how many superfoods you eat, these will not overcome a lack of confidence in relationships, or problems with money, or direction in life, etc.
Avoid "orthorexia"—only eating what's "right"—and avoid becoming a "supplementarian"—i.e. only eating engineered foods and avoiding natural food that has life force.
Follow the golden mean and avoid certain extremes to protect yourself from quackery and unleash your vitality.
