This week we have a very special and exclusive mix from Ramon Tapia.
Ramon Tapia, son of a Chilenean musician who had to run from his home country as he stood up against the regime, and a Dutch woman who was brave enough to fall in love, is a funny character, a very ambitious one: No one would have guessed he, the young jeweler working behind the counter of an Antwerp record shop, would one day release records on labels as renowned as Great Stuff, Craft Music,Turbo Rec, Abe Duque Rec, Corachi!, Pocket, Yellow Tail and Equator, just to name a few.
His Latin background and his Dutch upbringing perfectly explain his cultural curiosity and his deep rooted sense for groove and rhythm. Shimmering through in his intrinsic productions is his love for structural buildups and breakdowns and harmonies which underlay the driving beats.
2009 we seen the release of Ramons long awaited Two Part EP " Sunka Sanka" that was released on the German "GREAT STUFF" label, its a mixture of more house, tech house and of course some techno influences. 11 in tracks in all made for your pleasure and of course to burn dance floors worldwide!
At the start of this year, Beatport made of list of artists who they believe are destined for big things in 2010. Ramon Tapia was listed as one of them a long side 2000 and One and Riva Starr. With future releases on "Great Stuff" and a manic DJing schedule 2010 is going to be amazing year for Ramon.
Ramons mix is a love affair of sexy swinging tech house grooves, percussive tribal sounds with uplifting Latino flavours.
