Victorious Prayer

Podcast Episode Summary

Pastor Jin Ho concludes his sermon series on spiritual warfare entitled “Victors in Christ.”

Paul’s last instructions after describing the “armor of God” (Ephesians 6:10-17) is to pray. Paul exhorts us toward victorious prayer, which has the following qualities. 1) Persistence. Remain in a constant attitude of prayer despite the Enemy’s attempts to discourage or distract us. Like breathing, we need prayer to connect with God. 2) Possibilities. The possibilities for prayer are endless, as we are told to pray “with all kinds of prayers and requests” (v. 18) in all occasions and all places. We must pray for everything, things we need and want. Though God already know these things, we ask Him for the sake of relationship. 3) Praying in the Spirit. The Spirit will lead us in prayer as we pray with the Word of God in our heart, mind, and on our lips. Prayer without the Word is powerless. 4) Precision. We must be disciplined in our prayer, with alertness and a clear mind. Prioritizing prayer is important, and our minds must be guarded. 5) Perseverance. Pray and never give up. Pray for faithfulness. God wants us to depend on him daily; this is why He didn't want the Israelites to store up extra Manna. Pray until God answers. 6) Purpose. Pray for all the saints, the people of God. We must cover each other in prayer for the sake of the Kingdom. God’s promises to “you” in the Bible, mean “you, the entire people of God throughout the world.”
