Develop a Strong Relationship with Your Listeners

You may be in constant contact with your listeners (if they are listening regularly to your podcast), you want to build a strong and long-lasting relationship with them. Invite communication between you and your listeners, possibly through the use of a blog or forum and allow comments on your site or podcast that you can use as feedback

Listen to that feedback! Respond to your listeners. Work with what they suggest and show that you are willing to work with them and care about what they think. This will help to build long lasting relationships with them and will encourage them to come back time and again in order to hear what you have to say – because you listen to what they have to say!

Track the Stats for Your Podcast

In order to see how effective your promotion has been for your podcast, you want to track the statistics of viewers and referrers for your podcast. If your podcast is hosted from your own site, you can use a program such as Google Analytics or SiteMeter which is installed into the script of your site and tracks the traffic that views your site.

You can gain a good amount of information from statistic trackers like this which will provide information on who is viewing your site, where they are coming from, how they found your site, what country they are from, what type of browser they are using, and so much more.
Key components to track include the number of unique hits to your podcast’s website as well as the total overall hits and page views. It also tracks what they referring URLs are – in other words, this is the URL where the visitor was at originally before clicking a link on that page to view your site. By watching the performance of these referring URLs, you can easily see which sites get you the most traffic and need further promotion development.

You will also find information such as search phrase hits – how often a search engine phrase was used in order to find your site on a search engine. If you see that certain search engine phrases get more hits than others, you may work on promoting them further or embedding them more thoroughly in your podcast and website.
