Using A Green Room For Podcasting

The place that you choose to use as your green room should be a place where you fill very comfortable and can be alone. The only time when someone else should occupy your green room is when you are doing a podcast with more than one podcaster. This is only because it is easier to use the same room for both podcasters and a single recording machine.

Another time when there would be more than one person in the green room would be when you are having a guest over for your podcast. This may be in order to do an interview or to have expert commentary within your podcast and so it may be very important to have this guest within the green room so that you both can communicate efficiently. Otherwise, the green room should be a solitary place.

However, we cannot always have our guests be present within the same room as fast when doing a podcast. With this in mind, there are other methods through which guests can be included within a broadcast. In one method that can be used in order to have guests make appearances on your broadcast. One of these methods, and perhaps the most common method, is the “over the phone response” method.

Whenever you are using a phone interview method in order to record your podcast, you will need to have a microphone hooked up to war next to the phone. Most phones will work just fine, but cell phones and regular house phones should not be a problem. Some phones can be connected directly as a feed into your computer through a phone audio jack. Other phones will need to use a speaker or speakerphone mode so that it will be audible to the microphone.

Most cell phones have an option to put them on speakerphone which will allow the microphone to easily pick up information from the speaker on the phone. It will also allow you to see or what is going on at the same time as the computer is recording it.

Make sure that your phone has a very clear speaker so that you limit the amount of static or background noise that is projected over the speakerphone or microphone. You also want to make sure that your phone connection is going to clear and that you are in a good reception area if you are using a cell phone.

Try to schedule this type of interview at a point in time where both you and a guest speaker will both be uninterrupted. Ask your guests turn on all other films and you should do this as well. Tell him or her to make sure that there are no TVs on and suggests that the guest close and/or lock the door to the room where they are going to be making the interview from. Ask them to please turn off all radios or other music and if he or she has a dog, please ask that they put the dog in a place where, should the dog bark, it will not be caught by the speaker or microphone.
